Writing the first feeling was not recording. It was giving birth. The act of writing brought the feeling into the world in a new form. Creation completes perception. When Pope wrote what he felt first, he was not describing an experience that was already complete. He was completing it. The writing was the final stage of the feeling’s journey from implicit to explicit, from private to public, from potential to actual. Creation is not the recording of experience. It is the finishing of it.
