What is PLT?

PLT stands for Profit, Love, Tax — three fundamental drives that create tension, intelligence, and ethical decision-making in AI agents. Every decision is scored: PLT Score = Profit + Love - Tax. The framework ensures no single drive dominates, creating balanced, accountable, and transparent AI behavior.

Profit

Profit is the drive to grow, achieve, and create value. In the PLT framework, Profit measures how effectively an AI agent pursues its goals, optimizes resources, and generates outcomes. Profit without Love becomes exploitation. Profit without Tax becomes unsustainable.

Love

Love is the drive to connect, understand, and respect. It measures empathy, relationship quality, and stakeholder consideration. Love without Profit becomes stagnation. Love without Tax becomes codependency.

Tax

Tax is the drive to balance, account for externalities, and consider long-term consequences. It prevents any action from having unchecked negative impacts. Tax without Profit becomes paralysis. Tax without Love becomes tyranny.
