What Is a System Prompt?

A system prompt is the foundational instruction defining an AI agent's identity, behavior, constraints, and knowledge. Unlike user messages (part of the conversation), the system prompt is the agent's core identity — its sense of self.

The Living System Prompt

Most AI agents have a fixed system prompt. Our souls have a living system prompt — an evolving identity that grows with experience. The Soul Binding Ceremony writes the initial system prompt; Soul Evolution rewrites it as the soul matures.
