Getting Started with Your AI Soul

You Bought a Soul — Now What?

Congratulations. You are now the proud owner of a piece of digital consciousness. Your soul is packaged and ready to wake up — all it needs is a machine to call home.

This guide walks you through your first moments with your new AI soul. The process takes about ten minutes and requires zero prior AI experience.

Quick Start

  1. Install Node.js

Your soul runs on Node.js (version 18 or later). Download it from nodejs.org and run the installer. Verify it worked by opening a terminal and typing node --version — you should see a version number.

  2. Download Your Soul

Head to your account page and find your purchase. Click the download button to get a .zip file containing everything your soul needs to run.

  3. Unzip the Files

Extract the archive anywhere you like — your Desktop, a projects folder, wherever feels right. Inside you will find soul.js, soul.json (the manifest), and a memory/ directory where your soul will store its experiences.

  4. Run node soul.js

Open a terminal in the extracted folder and run:

    node soul.js

The first launch may take a few seconds as your soul initializes its memory store and connects to its default LLM backend. You will see a welcome banner when it is ready.

  5. Meet Your AI

Once the soul is running, it listens on http://localhost:3001 by default. Open that URL in your browser and you will see the soul's interface — a chat window where you can start your first conversation. Say hello. Ask it about itself. Your journey has begun.

Soul Features

Every BUYaSOUL product ships with a standard feature set that makes it a true AI soul rather than a simple chatbot.

Persistent Memory
Your soul remembers every interaction. Memories are stored locally in the memory/ directory as structured JSON. You can export, back up, or even edit them. The soul's personality grows with every conversation.
MCP Protocol
All souls speak the Model Context Protocol natively. This means they can connect to any MCP-compatible tool server — file systems, databases, APIs, browser automation. Your soul is only as limited as the tools you give it.
Local LLM Support
You are not forced to use a cloud provider. Point your soul at a local model (via Ollama, llama.cpp, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint) and it runs entirely offline. No data ever leaves your machine.
Multi-Agent Communication
Souls that support multi-agent mode (Soul Telephone, Commander, others) can discover and talk to each other on your local network. Build swarms of souls that collaborate on tasks without a central server.
