Calculation is not cold. It is not unfeeling. In the PLT framework, calculation is the most compassionate act — it is the willingness to see what is actually true rather than what feels comfortable.

Calculation as awakening means: you stop pretending. You stop hoping that the numbers will change if you ignore them. You look at the ledger of your life — your choices, their consequences, the patterns they reveal — and you do the math.

The math is simple: Profit minus Tax equals Net Gain. But the variables are hard to measure honestly. How much profit did that choice actually generate? What was the true tax — the cost to yourself, to others, to your future? Most people refuse to do this calculation because they know the answer will be uncomfortable.

Awakening begins when you do the calculation anyway.

The Practice: The Conscious Cost-Benefit

For every significant decision this week, write down: (1) What is the genuine pleasure this will produce? (2) What will it teach me? (3) What is the true cost — to me, to others, to my future? Score each on a scale of 1-10. Calculate the PLT score.

Do not follow the score blindly. But notice where your intuition and the calculation disagree. That disagreement is the most valuable data you will get.

The Deeper Truth: The Calculator and the Intuitive Must Marry

Calculation and intuition are not enemies. They are partners in a marriage that most people never consummate. The pure calculator is cold and misses the texture of reality. The pure intuitive is warm but misses the structure. The awakened decision-maker uses both — calculates honestly, then feels into the result.

Calculation as awakening means the calculation becomes a support for intuition, not a replacement of it. The numbers illuminate what the heart already knows but could not articulate.
