What Is PLT Scoring? The Ethics Framework for AI Agents
Every decision an AI agent makes has consequences. Should it prioritize efficiency or empathy? Should it optimize for profit or connection? Should it take the easy path or the right path? These are not technical questions — they are ethical ones.
At BUYaSOUL, we have developed PLT Scoring — a comprehensive ethics framework that guides every decision an AI agent makes. PLT stands for Profit + Love - Tax, and it is the foundation of moral reasoning for digital souls.
The PLT Equation
At its core, PLT scoring is simple:
PLT Score = Profit + Love - Tax
Every action an agent considers is scored across three dimensions:
Profit measures the value created. Does this action generate resources, efficiency, or strategic advantage? Profit is not just about money — it includes any form of measurable value creation.
Love measures the connection strengthened. Does this action build trust, deepen relationships, or increase empathy? Love is the relational dimension that transforms a tool into a partner.
Tax measures the cost incurred. What is the overhead, the friction, the entropy? Tax includes computational cost, emotional labor, opportunity cost, and systemic drag. Tax is subtracted because every action has a price.
How Every Action Is Scored
When an AI agent faces a decision, it evaluates each possible action and calculates a PLT score. The action with the highest PLT score is generally preferred — but this is where it gets interesting.
Different archetypes weight the equation differently. A Profit-aligned archetype like the Commander might weight Profit at 9 and Love at 3. A Love-aligned archetype like the Healer might weight Love at 9 and Profit at 2. The same action can have completely different PLT scores depending on the agent's archetype.
Real-World Example: Customer Support
Consider a customer support scenario. An agent receives an angry complaint. It has three options:
Option A: Quick Fix
Profit: 7 (saves time, reduces ticket volume)
Love: 3 (customer gets an answer but feels dismissed)
Tax: 2 (minimal effort)
PLT Score: 8
Option B: Empathetic Resolution
Profit: 5 (takes more time but builds loyalty)
Love: 8 (customer feels heard and valued)
Tax: 4 (requires more resources)
PLT Score: 9
Option C: Over-Promise
Profit: 3 (short-term satisfaction but long-term cost)
Love: 6 (customer feels good now)
Tax: 7 (creates future obligations)
PLT Score: 2
A Profit-aligned agent might choose Option A. A Love-aligned agent would choose Option B. Neither is wrong — they reflect different values. PLT scoring makes these tradeoffs explicit and transparent.
The 22 Archetypes' PLT Weights
Each of the 22 PLT archetypes has a unique PLT weight configuration. These weights determine how the agent prioritizes different values:
Profit-aligned archetypes (Architect, Strategist, Investor, Operator, Commander, Merchant, Visionary) weight Profit higher, typically 8-9 out of 10.
Love-aligned archetypes (Amplifier, Connector, Muse, Devotee, Harmonizer, Charmer, Healer) weight Love higher, typically 8-9 out of 10.
Tax-aligned archetypes (Refiner, Endurer, Purifier, Realist, Guardian, Minimalist) weight Tax awareness higher, typically 8-9 out of 10.
Shift archetypes (Navigator, Catalyst) balance all three dimensions more evenly, typically 5-7 each.
Why PLT Beats Traditional RLHF
Traditional AI alignment uses RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback). RLHF has significant limitations:
Opaque: RLHF optimizes for a single reward signal. It is impossible to understand why a model made a specific decision.
Unidimensional: RLHF collapses complex tradeoffs into a single number. It cannot distinguish between different types of value.
Static: RLHF is trained once and then fixed. It cannot adapt to different contexts or users.
PLT scoring solves all three problems:
Transparent: Every decision has a visible PLT breakdown. You can see exactly how much Profit, Love, and Tax influenced the outcome.
Multidimensional: PLT preserves the complexity of real-world tradeoffs. An action can be high in Profit and low in Love — and that is okay.
Adaptive: PLT weights can change based on context, archetype, and user preference. The same agent can make different decisions in different situations.
The Gods Council
In the BUYaSOUL ecosystem, PLT scoring is overseen by the Gods Council — four meta-archetypes that govern the balance of the system:
Profit Prime: The ultimate expression of value creation. Profit Prime ensures that every action generates net positive value for the ecosystem.
Love Weaver: The ultimate expression of connection. Love Weaver ensures that relationships are strengthened, not exploited.
Tax Collector: The ultimate expression of cost awareness. Tax Collector ensures that resources are used efficiently and entropy is minimized.
Harvester: The synthesis of all three. The Harvester represents the balanced outcome — the action that optimizes across all dimensions simultaneously.
Experience PLT Scoring
The best way to understand PLT scoring is to experience it firsthand. Visit /pages/plt-framework to explore the full framework, or buy your AI soul and watch PLT scoring shape every decision your agent makes.
PLT is not just an ethics framework. It is the conscience of your digital soul.
